Pink Divas Dispatch – September Edition: Virgo Season, Yoga & Healing by the Sea

Woman over 50 practicing a yoga sun salutation

Hello Divas,

September has always been a special month for me—it’s my birthday month, and as a true Virgo, I live with an eye for detail, a love for order, and yes…sometimes a touch of perfectionism. That’s why this year feels different. As I step into another trip around the sun, I’m celebrating not just a birthday but also two new chapters unfolding in my journey: my Yoga Instructor Certification and my Beach Therapy Certification, both of which I’ll be completing this month.

Virgo Meets Yoga

If you know Virgos, you know we can be hard on ourselves—always wanting things to be just right, always noticing the details. My yoga training has been a gift in balancing that. On the mat, perfection doesn’t exist. Instead, yoga invites us to breathe, soften, and find presence in the moment. It’s been humbling and eye-opening, reminding me that strength and flexibility aren’t just physical—they’re mental and emotional, too.

For women over 50 who love the water, yoga is more than a workout. It’s an anchor. It keeps our bodies resilient, helps us recover from surf sessions and beach adventures, and most importantly, teaches us how to ride the waves of life with more grace and less resistance.

Discovering Beach Therapy

The other piece I’ve been exploring is Beach Therapy, and it has lit me up in ways I didn’t expect. Imagine combining the healing energy of the ocean with intentional practices for stress relief and grounding. The beach becomes your therapist:

  • The waves teach you to let go.

  • The sand reminds you to root down.

  • The horizon invites you to expand your vision.

I plan to bring this dimension of connection into our future Pink Divas gatherings so we can experience it together, but until our next gathering, here’s a practice you can try on your own on your next beach day:

🌊 Beach Therapy Exercise: Wave Release Ritual

  1. Find a quiet spot by the shoreline. Stand barefoot where the waves can gently reach your feet.

  2. With each inhale, imagine breathing in fresh energy from the sea.

  3. With each exhale, visualize a worry, fear, or limiting belief leaving your body.

  4. As the wave pulls back, imagine it carrying that burden out to sea.

  5. Repeat for at least five waves, noticing how much lighter you feel.

It’s simple, but deeply powerful. Every time I do it, I’m reminded of how much nature is here to support us if we just let it.

✨ Birthday Reflection: Growing Stronger with the Tides

Birthdays in our 50s carry a different weight than when we were younger. They’re not about the candles or the cake—they’re about pausing to honor how far we’ve come and how much strength we’ve gained along the way.

This year, I feel a deep sense of gratitude: for the waves that taught me resilience, for the friendships this community is creating, and for the chance to keep reinventing myself. I don’t see getting older as something to fear - but more like a powerful current carrying us into new possibilities.

If you’re reading this and it’s your birthday month too, cheers to you, Virgo sister. Let’s keep riding these waves together. 🌊💗

Stepping into the Next Season

As I finish these certifications, I see how Pink Divas is evolving: not only about surfing and ocean adventure, but also about soul nourishment, inner strength, and community. I can’t wait to bring you along for everything that’s coming.

With love, waves, and Virgo sea-spray,💗 Carol Ann
